Hutton Arena played host to the section 3AAAA Girl’s Basketball section championship between top-seeded Eastview and Park on Thursday night in Minneapolis.

Eastview was the first to score as freshman guard Madison Guebert sunk a two-pointer just over a minute into the first half. Eastview took a thirteen point lead before Park managed to make it onto the scoreboard nearly a third of the way through the first half. Eastview’s domination kept the Park girls at least ten-points behind and the first half ended 25-15 Eastview.

The Park girls came out fighting during the second half and steadily edged out Eastview until they took the lead, 42-39 with six minutes left in the half. It wasn’t enough to clinch the win as Eastview regained their lead and finished the game five points ahead of Park.

The cinderella story was left incomplete as Park failed to make good on their first trip to the section final since 2008. Eastview defeated Park 52-47 and will advance to the State Championship next weekend.
